Adult swim school

Swimming is proven to reduce anxiety and stress levels, lower the risk of heart disease, improve sleep and is low impact on your joints. Its great exercise too. But what if you can’t swim?

Swimfit Midlothian is the only Adult & Teenage Swim School in the Lothians. Based in Dalkeith, I offer

  • A progressive learn to swim programme for adults
  • Training for indoor & open water swim events.

Whatever your current swimming level or reason for joining, I will develop your confidence, strength, stamina and fitness through professional coaching and a commitment to supporting you in achieving your goals.

Swimfit:

Sunday 7.30am, Monday 8.30pm, Wednesday 7.30pm, Thursday 8.30pm

60 min coaching session.

Ability: Able to swim 100m in all of the 3 main strokes.

Focus: A great cardiovascular workout whilst refining technique to ensure you move as efficiently as possible through the water. These sessions will enhance your current fitness training, increasing lung capacity, stamina and core strength. Drills, turns and open water swimming technique are included where required.

Membership:    £40 per month (1 session per week) / £68 per month (2 sessions per week)

Stroke Development:

Wednesday 7.30pm, Thursday 8.30pm

60 min coaching session.

Ability: Able to swim 50m in all of the 3 main strokes.

Focus: 8 week technique macrocycle on a rotational basis for each stroke ensures your stroke develops to minimise drag and increase movement efficiency.

Membership:    £40 per month (1 session per week) / £68 per month (2 sessions per week)

Improver:

Tuesday 7.30pm, Thursday 7.30pm

60 min coaching session.

Ability: Able to swim 25m in all of the 3 main strokes.

Focus: 8 week technique macrocycle on a rotational basis for each stroke ensures your stroke develops to minimise drag and increase movement efficiency.

Membership:    £48 per month (1 session per week) / £68 per month (2 sessions per week)

Beginner 2: (Main Pool)

Monday 7.30pm, Thursday 7.30pm, Thursday 8pm,

30 min coaching session

Ability: Able to swim approx. 10 to 20 metres. Technique needs developing

Focus: Smaller classes to enable regular individual feedback along with group demonstration. Coach still works both in the water and on poolside to ensure understanding of technique been demonstrated. Classes work to an 8 week technique macrocycle on a rotational basis for each stroke.

Membership:     £28 per month (1 session per week) / £50 per month (2 sessions per week)

Beginner: (Main pool)

Tuesday 8.30pm Womens Only 60 minutes Sessions

Wednesday 8.30pm Mens Only 60 Minutes Sessions

Ability: Comfortable in water and able to place your face in / keen to learn how. Comfortable to lift feet from floor and kick with or without support.

Focus: Building confidence and learning technique foundations. Classes are quick paced to ensure maximum aerobic workout even though travelling short distances. Coach works both in and out the water to support and demonstrate

Membership:    £28 per month (1x 30 min session per week)

                                £48 per month (1x 60 min session per week)

Non Swimmer (teaching pool)

Sunday 7.30pm, Sunday 8pm

30 min session

Ability: Uncomfortable in water. Unable to lift feet from floor or place face in water.

Focus: Becoming comfortable in water – submersion and orientation. Fully supported in the water by the coach. Slower paced to build confidence and trust. The teaching pool is warm and a low depth to enable feet to reach the floor whenever required. 

Membership:     £36 per month (1 session per week)
